TSS Services was set up in June 2008 by Tuula Scott-Burdon. In 2001 Tuula started learning Sign Language in Australia (Auslan)and continued her studies when she returned to the UK. Tuula completed her studies at the end of last year and became a qualified Sign Language Interpreter in January. She now works as a freelance interpreter and BSL tutor.
Iain Scott-Burdon who is Deaf, has over 25 years experience of teaching British Sign Language and Deaf Awareness. Iain also has the NVQ Level 4 qualification (Now known as Level 6).
The certificate at the end of each course is an accredited qualification through 'Signature' (previously known as CACDP). The tutors attend courses through Signature to make sure the curriculum taught is kept up to date. We are a recognised assessment centre with 'Signature'.
We keep our classes in a relaxed and fun manner whilst also ensuring a professional status is maintained. Assessments are compulsory for Level 1 but not for Level 2 so whether you come along to get an extra qualification on your CV or to communicate with a Deaf person you have met. Everybody is welcome and we guarantee you will have a laugh along the way while taking our classes seriously.
TSS Services now offer an interpreting service. All interpreters used are CRB checked and have PLI insurance. We use trainee and fully qualified interpreters only and so only the correct level of interpreters are provided for bookings.
